The Breast Cancer Sisterhood Speaks
Who We've Helped
"J" in Atlanta

Since she's a young single woman living alone, a Schwann's delivery made life justa little easier for "J."

"I want to thank the Breast Cancer Sisterhood for helping in providing several meals and snacks that are as healthy as I'd want them to be, easy to prepare and store!  This was especially helpful during a stressful time of year when money is short and my desire to DO is much higher than my energy level (due to chemo!).  The Breast Cancer Sisterhood is truly a wonderful organization and I'm so proud of all your good works!"

"J" in Wisconsin

With a little help from her friends, we were able to assist J's family in making this difficult time a bit easier. Plus, a collection of Star Wars figures for her little superstar.

We lost "J" in July, 2008.

"P" in North Carolina

A mom of two little ones and unable to work, sending "P" a cleaning crew for two months helped make her days a little neater. Imagine being home-bound and having to look at a messy home and unable to do anything about it! Much thanks to the local Maid Pro for the extreme kindness in offering The Breast Cancer Sisterhood a reduced rate and sending a top-notch team!

"P" lost the battle on August 31. Her family was by her side when she passed.

"P" in New York

With help from the local YMCA, we secured "P" a 3-month membership to help fight fatigue during radiation and to get her back in shap after chemo and surgery. "Yay! Yay! Yay! They offer a ballet class, among other things, that has been calling my name!!! That is wonderful. Thanks soooooo much!!!"

"J" in Minnesota

While fighting Stage IV breast cancer, "J" lost her husband in the line of duty. We helped out with some groceries. She has enough to worry about.
"D" in New York

Another single mom with three young children (ages 2-12), "D" is hospital-bound for the next month. She kicked some breast cancer ass but is now battling Leukemia. All she wanted was something for her kids. And some hope. We sent her some McDonald's gift certificates for her kids,  an inspirational plaque to help her stay strong, and a Netflix membership to keep her entertained in the hospital.

After another lengthy hospital stay while awaiting a bone marrow donor, "D" was in need again. We sent a care package full of fun activities to keep her kids busy at home, and magazines, books and cute jammies to make her hospital stay a little more bearable.

Another sister has fallen. Our sweet sister Danica passed on August 31, 2008.

"A" in Ohio

Gas prices are tough for all of us, but when you have long daily drives for radiation, costs can really add up. Especially when treatment means you can't work. So we sent "A" a gift card to a nearby gas station. Just a little something to make the trip a little easier.

"I thank you deeply for your kindness and generosity.  I am touched at the kindness you have shown a complete stranger. Thanks again for all you have done."

"N" in Washington

An anonymous "sister" donated funds to help "N" get through some tough times. "N" told us, "Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart! I am crying!! I am so thankful! This will pay for a whole month of my medical bills (insurance premium & monthly payment toward balance due). This is such an encouragement to me, thank you!"

"K" in Washington

Since "K" is unable to work, we helped out with some groceries and a little pizza treat. She said, "Thank you so much for the gift cards to Safeway and Pizza Hut.  We LOVE pizza- something even my picky daughter will eat.  I really appreciate your help.  It's really easing my mind knowing we have help with groceries."

"C" in Chicago

Daily radiation treatments to her spine have been debilitating. We sent "C" a 3-month NetFlix membership to give her something to do while she's laying low. And when she's out of the hospital, she has a date with Mario (of Mario Tricoci Spa) for a manicure and pedicure. Because it's important to remember how to feel pretty!

We lost "C" on September 15, 2008 after a 3-year battle. Her YSC sister "T" was holding her hand when she passed.

"J" in Pennsylvania

A single mom with three young children, "J" was recently released from the hospital following treatment for the spread of breast cancer. We sent her meals for her family from DineWise, as well as pizza gift cards and McDonald's gift certificates (can't forget the kids!).

Sadly, "J" passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. She was only 29 years old.

"D" in Vancouver, BC

We sent "D" a gently used prosthesis.

"Thank you so much, I am sitting here reading the info and have put the prothesis in my regular bra and have tears rolling down my face, feeling very grateful for you generosity!
It makes me feel more "normal" in the process as I await [reconstructive] surgery. You have blessed me more than you will ever know!"

"J" in Chicago

Before she goes another round with breast cancer, "J" will enjoy the relaxing spa treatment of her choice.

"A" in Florida

Medications can be expensive. Especially when they're not covered by insurance. "A's" skin will heal better after radiation with the Biafine prescribed by her doctor. And we took care of the costs for her.

"V" in California

Waiting tables and breast cancer don't mix. So we sent "V" a grocery gift card to help a little until she's back on her feet.

"I" in California

This single mom needed help with groceries while she battles breast cancer. We sent her a grocery gift card to help feed the family.
